Mail servers like Gmail, yahoo, hotmail and others always block images from displaying as a security measure. It appears the same way in my smartphone. Turns out it still does not display the image as intended but it does not turn into links, instead it appears as empty divs. I checked to see how it appears in chrome. As I said this renders beautifully as intended in my outlook account so the mistake shouldnot be in the code.

SECOND UPDATE : As asked in the question here is an example of what my image's html looks like when clicked in the show-original in gmail. If you must also know I have my site hosted on and the email sent is via. I wonder what is happening, any ideas on what to try.įIRST UPDATE : I have tried sending to an alternative gmail account but the outcome is the same, displays only the links instead of images. At first I got a suspicious login attempt warning but the email setup worked fine after I added it as an exception. Other observation is when I access the same gmail account in my smartphone, the image div seems to be empty with only the border and a tiny icon in the middle.ĭo not want you to miss out anything so in case it is relevant - The one thing that I tried a few days ago was setup an SMTP email setup with using the login credentials of the same gmail account.

OBSERVATION - I can say that my code is alright as the images display fine in my 's email account and also because it had been displaying in the gmail account itself until very recently. In my gmail account, I have this set Settings=>General=>Images=>Always display external images. Problem is it is just displaying the links to those images, instead of the images itself. On submit the images are sent to my gmail account with some html text content. The code pulls the featured image of each selected post. I have built a simple email system wherein people can select posts.

This keeps Gmail from caching the pixel, and forces a retrieval of the resource each time the email is reopened.I use wordpress cms. The trick consists of implementing a particular HTTP header for this transparent tracking pixel: “Content-Length:0”. Our deliverability team immediately deployed a solution to counter this problem – multiple opens are still accurately tracked with Mailjet. However, some email services are no longer able to track multiple opens: indeed, once the pixel is in Google’s cache, there is no way to detect if it was re-loaded or not. Gmail's caching doesn't keep us from tracking the unique opens, since the pixel must be downloaded at least once, so no worries here. Each time the recipient opens the email, the image is downloaded, which allows us to track opens. The opens statistics are also calculated by using an image: a transparent and unique pixel is placed into the message. The number of recipients based in California should also increase… Open tracking – with Mailjet, everything works as usual

You should therefore expect the proportion of “other” user agents to surge. Of course, we are looking for a workaround, but there isn’t much hope. There is no way to bypass these two unfortunate side effects.
